F--- Amtrak.

Normally I'm on the side of our national passenger rail network, but their Thanksgiving pricing practices are unconscionable. Two days before or after the holiday, what's normally a $70 BOS-NYP ticket on a Regional train costs $151. Acela tickets, usually between $89 and $120, cost $155.

It's been this way since August. I've been checking.

Thanksgiving is one of the few wholesome holidays we have left. Amtrak's outright fleecing of customers who are trying to get home to enjoy time with their families pisses me off.

I dunno... tough call on that one. Shitty, true, but it's also supply and demand.

I run up against this in trying to do a business plan for furniture... It's hard to gauge the value of things sometimes, and therefore hard to know what to charge. But it's a pretty sure bet that people will want to go home more for the holiday than they will want to go home on the third tuesday of February. It may not be so much that they're fleecing people over thanksgiving, as that they're sellign train tickets for what they can get the rest of the time.

But, I'm all for a good FU in the morning, so Fuck Amtrak anyway.

Relatively speaking, none of the airlines or bus companies are doing the same thing. So F Amtrak indeed.
