Building the Bourbon Sweatlodge, Laura S. Walker State Park, Waycross, Ga. (DS09)

While four of us told stories in the tent, somebody spilled a lot of bourbon. Despite the humidity, the elixir evaporated immediately, bringing a strangely welcome weight to the thick southern night.

Here we are, setting up the tent under the DSmobile's highbeams. I remember that the park ranger (whose herpetological photos are on Flickr) made a special trip to our campsite to tell us about the impending doom he saw on the radar screen.

I hope the bourbon didn't spill all over your sleeping bag.
