Any idea what this was about? Usually they don't tow away the car and arrest the driver just for speeding or running a stop sign.
Hey, that's my bank!
If this guy actually got read his rights, I'm jealous. The Somerville police never read me my rights when they arrested me on bogus charges. Things sure have changed in the past few years.
My guess is the guy attached plates - which would get him pulled over in the first place. Then instead of just towing the car and summonsing him to court, he might have had some open warrants.
Is it normal for giant riot vans to come for a single suspect?

I guess we will find out in next week's Somerville News what happened. I was in a teleconference when this happened and narrated/shot the whole thing. The cops involved seemed to do a very professional job--no mockery intended.
The van driver literally brought donuts, though.
Yes, it is normal for them to send the wagon for a single arrestee. It's not a safe way to transport people, but it's not like they care about that.
Actually, in the last photo, the cop at left is holding a license plate (I thought it was one of the clipboards that came out). So it would seem that Anonymous #2 is correct. The guy attached plates.
awesome
