It really can help you track your local music scene and/or unsigned artists worldwide.

They're been doing this for at least a few years now, though the whole thing is still very interesting to me. I finally got around to starting The World is Flat, and there's some in-depth discussion of the new Reuters business plan right in the first chapter. The "globalization 3.0" that the book talks about describes how processes can be broken down - and pieces of processes outsourced. For example - the general rule of thumb is that goods can be imported/exported, but services are local. However, the book comments that parts of he service process CAN be outsourced. You can't outsource your steak dinner on Friday night, but you could outsource the reservation system for the restaurant. "Table for 2, Friday night 8 PM? Would you like to sit by the bar or by the windows? Thank you for calling the restaurant reservation system, staffed here in Bangolore India."
I of course commented under the wrong post. This should have been under the outsourcing post.- Mike
