War on Photography continues--don't let cops ruin your pictures
Another amateur photographer is attacked by police. I won't share my own experiences today, but remember:
Go take pictures!
- Officers cannot "confiscate," i.e. steal, cameras, film, or memory cards.
- Officers have no legal right to ask you to delete any pictures you have taken, i.e. destroy your own property.
- You have the right to photograph any person, place, or thing that exists in public or in public view as long as you are not trespassing and have the right to be standing where you are.
- If illegal confiscation, i.e. theft, of photographic equipment occurs, you must immediately file a theft charge against the offending officer(s).
Go take pictures!
