Again: Who decided that commas were no longer needed in lists?

I had to read the first fucking sentence in this Times article 3 times to understand it.

We're buying a house. It has lots of room. We're even going to have a guest bed- real bed, not blow-up bed.
so come visit this summer. bring the girl. it'll be great. i'll email you pics of the house as soon as i can. it's an old victorian house- get this, this is why you should live in joplin- the house is 2050 sq. feet...we're paying $64,090 for it...yup, that's right. and it's not a fixer-upper.
